Saturday July 13, 2024 – Spotifest / Twin Visited SF / Europe

Saturday night and just relaxing. I showered and now just put on a face mask. Every time I use facemasks I always think about my former roommates in NY lol. They were the ones who taught me how to use facemasks, and we would do facemasks together while sitting in the living room lol. I miss them and hope I can catch up with them again sometime. But anyways, just wanted to reflect on this past week. So much has been going on lately and feel like my head has just been all over. But things are all getting figured out and everything will work out in the end.

So this past week, I went to LA for one day to attend our summer work party called Spotifest. Our offices throughout the world host Spotifest parties, and I’ve attended every year since I’ve joined. Honestly, it was a little stressful since this was another turn-around trip in which I flew to LA early morning at 6AM, then went to the office to work, then attended Spotifest, and then flew back that night at 1130PM. I’ve done turn-around trips a few times in the past year after I stopped having my apartment in SoCal. During my first year working at my job, I ended up renting a room in an apartment for a year so I had a place to stay every time I went down there. And it was nice and worked out since I was able to go into the office a lot and come down for work events and meetings. I only had that apartment for a year and then moved out, but now I just fly down for a few days and stay with my twin Cindy in SoCal, or lately, just been doing turnarounds. So far they’ve all been fine, but this week just felt tired since I’m also planning a lot of other trips at the same time. But I was glad that I came down and got to see my team and also people from other teams who I’ve become friends with. The party was fun and Busta Rhymes performed which was pretty cool! He performed quick though for about 30 min and then had to go to another show. But that was a cool experience having him perform at our office, and he actually performed at Spotifest London and NY too =).

After Spotifest, I had dinner with Lynard and Jeff and loved seeing them and catching up! Super thankful to have close friends like them who made time to come have dinner with me although I had asked last minute. I had considered contacting them to ask if they were available to hangout after my work party since they live close to the office, but I was still trying to figure out how long I would be at the party and also the office was still finalizing the schedule. So I almost didn’t contact them, but then the day before Spotifest, Jeff and Lynard happened to text in our group chat, and we hadn’t texted in our group chat in a while. So then I replied asking if they were free for dinner the next day and luckily they were both able to hangout =). They picked me up from my office and then we drove to dinner at this nice restaurant nearby. We’ve seen each other within the past few months but it was always a big event. Last time we saw each other was for our other close friend’s bach which was a lot of fun, but we were running around most of the weekend lol and also hanging out with everybody else. So it was nice to have dinner with just us and catch up on how we’ve been. I’ll see them again soon next month at our friend Jess’ wedding! Excited for that and I love our Barkada group <3.

Then after dinner, went to the airport, flew back home, and got back safely. Peter was already sleeping when I got home since I got back around 1AM, but I knocked out. Then the next day on Friday I worked, and then after, picked up my twin/best friend Cindy in the city since she had a work trip this week! She recently got a new job working for a company based in SF so now she will be visiting more when she comes for work trips. So picked her up and she also had her dog Winston with her <3. Then we went back to my apartment, and then Peter, her and I went to dinner at a Greek restaurant nearby that we walked to and we also brought the dogs. The dinner was really good and the weather was nice at night, and then we went home. Then after we got home, we watched this TV show that twin has been watching recently called “Claim to Fame”. The show is basically about relatives of famous people, and the participants need to figure out which famous person they are all related to lol. Don’t feel like explaining everything, but it was pretty interesting and we ended up watching a bunch of episodes and finished the first season by the next day.

So yeah today we finished watching the show, and then after we went to lunch at Seapot KBBQ. We went there for my birthday a couple of months ago and we did hot pot, so it was nice that we did KBBQ this time and it was really good. Then after we went back home, walked the dogs, came back, and then dropped off twin to the airport to go back home to SoCal.

When I got back home, Peter and I booked a few more things for our Europe trip next month. I’m going to Europe again for work, and then the week after, Peter is going to travel with me to London and Amsterdam. So we’ve been planning that and almost done booking everything. I know it’s cutting close since it’s now the month before, but we also had to book some other trips. We’re actually going to Jess’ wedding in SD right before I leave for Europe so we had to also book everything for that. So now just booking the rest of the things for Europe which is almost done and then we’ll be all set.

Starting to get tired now, but yes that was basically my week. So thankful that I was able to attend our work party and also have dinner with friends, then came back to hangout with twin, and also Peter and I finished booking a bunch more things for Europe. Here’s a pic from Spotifest with my friend/colleague Annie! Funny story – we actually met at the first Spotifest I went to and became friends, and ever since that, we’ve hungout at every Spotifest party together for the past 3 years =). We said we should also hangout sometime outside of work lol and told her I’ll hit her up when I’m in SoCal again. Okay well going to end this now. Good night!

Carolyn 💜
