Wow so I’ve been meaning to start blogging again this whole year, but never came around to it until now in Oct. I actually meant to blog more last year, but ended up traveling a lot so just kept putting it off. With quarantine and having so much more time on my hands I thought I would have done it by now, but this year has been crazy and has thrown everyone off, atleast that’s how I feel. My world has definitely been turned upside down, in some bad but also good ways. Overall just wanted to share how things have been this year and elaborate on some life changes.
Let’s see, where to start. First, I already announced this a few months ago, but I’ve finally moved back to CA. I literally have been trying to move back ever since I got there lol. What started as an opportunity of a lifetime landing a job in NYC, but then ended up becoming a nightmare. But fortunately after 2 years got out of that job situation and moved to another job that I LOVED which turned everything around for me, and finally allowed me to truly enjoy NYC. But then after another 2 years ended up having to leave that job as well, but that finally allowed me to move back home to CA and so here I am now.
For a while I think I was ashamed to say, but I’ve gotten over it and millions of other people are in the same situation, but I was laid off from my last job. Yes it sucks, but overall it worked out for me. I had already been talking with my job about moving back to CA this year. My plan was to transfer to the LA office, which had been done before so I was hopeful. They also checked in with me every few months to make sure that was still what I wanted. But then the pandemic happened so we were all just working from home until further notice, and luckily the company was already used to that before. It was nice working for a company that allowed us to work from home whenever we needed, so we had no problem adapting to the new normal. So was working from home since March, and I decided to stay in CA during those months to be with family. But unfortunately in May the company had to lay off a lot of employees worldwide which was really sad since we were such a close knit family. I am happy to say that a lot of my coworkers became some of my closest friends, and I still keep in contact with some of them until today.
But yes that was the main reason I was able to move back. It sucked being laid off, especially after getting promoted the month before, but it’s going to be okay. I’m glad to finally be back home with family and not have to keep going back and forth like I had been doing for the past 4 years. Luckily I was able to come home a lot starting last year since my job had allowed me to do so, but it was still tiring at times, but finally here for good. My goal was always to move back home. Throughout the years a few people have asked me if I was going to settle there or come back, and the answer was always to come back. I had a few friends in NY that were also from CA and they all had the same plan as well (and also moved back this year).
But anyways, so that’s that. Since I’ve been back home I’ve just been settling in, helping my family around the house, cooking more, looking for jobs, and also finishing an online music class from NYU. I’ve done a few other things things, but I think I’ll save that for my next post since this is getting long.
Glad to finally start this again! More to come.
